The Discovery Raster is in principle, the digital version of the Discovery mapping series, originally designed for tourist and leisure acitivities. It is derived from a 1:10,000 digital database and aerial photography of photo scale 1:40,000 with field verification. Some data is derived from appropriate external organisations.

There are 240 tiles in the series (Republic of Ireland).  Each tile covers a ground area of 20km x 20km, and all are available in Irish Grid (IG).
